Using Common Business Acronyms at Work

Whether you’re working from home or are still one of the few commuting to your office every day, emails are a prevalent way of communicating with your fellow employees. With mostly email communication, however, comes a different lingo that employees might not be accustomed to especially if they’re used to in-person interaction.

We have come up with the Top-5 most commonly used text abbreviations used through email, to facilitate the communication process and allow the use of these acronyms to speed up productivity across your workforce.

Using our FastFox Text Expander, quickly apply these commonly used phrases and begin using them throughout your workday.

1. ASAP

ASAP stands for “As soon as possible.” This acronym is most frequently used across emails, text messages, and Direct Messages. ASAP comes in handy when you want to assure others that you will complete an impromptu project in a timely manner,

2. YTD

YTD means “year to date.” In a calendar or fiscal year, you can use YTD to show where you are as of the current date. This acronym is perfect when presenting profit margins in a quarterly or semi-annual email.

3. OOO

OOO, or “Out of office” can be an extremely useful one to add to your auto-reply signatures in an email. This acronym lets your coworkers know an immediate answer will not be provided and offers your coworkers the reassurance they need to find the answer to their questions via someone else.

4. NRN

When sending an email that needs no response you use NRN or “No response necessary” However, make sure to weigh pros and cons when using this one, as most people interpret statements differently.

5. EOD

“End of Day” can have two particular meanings. EOD can mean the end of the workday or the end of a 24-hour day. When implementing this acronym with your team, be sure to choose which one you are referring to, to avoid any confusion with your colleagues.

Adding acronyms to FastFox is quick and simple. After you’ve downloaded and installed FastFox Text Expander, click on “Add”

In the “New Simple Text Shortcut” screen, start adding the acronym shortcuts above along with their text expansion inside the “Expansion” box.

Once you are finished, click OK to finalize the process. Repeat this for every shortcut you have on your list.

We are positive that adding text shortcuts will allow for a more productive workday.

Mashup

Email a Compressed Archive Using Express Zip

With an increasing number of employees adapting to working from home; it is essential to maintain a working style similar to the one you’re accustomed to at your office. This might include a similar desk set-up, (yes including your succulents and images of your family) along with a similar computer setup that includes all your work files. However, if you find yourself encountering issues transferring files to your home computer due to their size, NCH has the right tool for you!

With Express Zip File Compression, you can easily choose your files, compress them and email them all from the program itself. Don’t miss out on any important files, compress them using Express Zip and keep the same productivity levels going.

After you've downloaded Express Zip, select "Create a new archive" from the launch window. Then, click on "Add Files" or simply drag and drop the files that you want to send via email into Express Zip.

On the main interface, Express Zip displays the document name, type of document, along with its original size, and the compressed size. When you’re assured all the files have been added to your archive, click the “Email” icon on the far right top hand corner. This will activate the emailing process.

Choose the email you would like your new archive delivered to:
Allow the process to take place. When Express Zip is done emailing your archive, a successful message will appear at the bottom of your screen stating: “Email Sent Successfully”

We recommend that if you have a lot of data to send, even with compression, you may need to make a few archives due to email attachment size limitations. Express Zip also features an encryption tool for files that contain sensitive information. You can use the Encrypt tool to secure the data before emailing.

Express Zip is an essential tool that makes moving your office files to your home office quick and simple. Never miss a beat as you transition offices, especially during these most difficult times.
