Get started with your project in WavePad by starting a recording or opening an existing audio file.
Before recording, make sure that your recording device is connected and selected as the recording device in WavePad. Learn more about configuring your recording device in the “How to connect devices” tutorial. Once you are connected, click the record button at the bottom of the screen, speak into your microphone and press stop when you are finished.
To edit an existing audio file, click the open button on the Home tab and browse to your file. You can also drag and drop your file into WavePad to open it.
Click and drag on your waveform to highlight a region for editing. Go to the edit tab and you will see various editing tools such as split, join, trim, redact, and more. Use the Split Tool to cut the audio into multiple files. To merge audio files, use the Join tool. Use the Trim tool to cut portions of the waveform. Visit the WavePad tutorial page for more detailed videos on each tool.
