Create Your Own Webcast

Have you ever wanted to make your own live TV show? More and more people watch their shows online, so you can join the trend and broadcast your own low budget show online with the help of video stream software. Whether you are editing your programming first, or streaming live, you can share your webcasts straight from your PC with BroadCam Streaming Video Server.

share and stream your own video webcasts With Broadcam installed you can set up either a live input or select your finished videos under settings, which is the easy part. What is a little more technical is setting up your computer's connection to the outside world so that viewers can access the video, but don't let that scare you away. To help guide you we have a BroadCam video tutorial available with includes instructions for configuring your router and firewalls for internet video streaming and more. For most people this will cover everything you need, but there is also a more detailed series on making your computer accessible from the public internet with information on port forwarding to allow connections to your computer for streaming and more.

Once you have the routing taken care of you can click "Connect" on main interface and a web page will open with the links you can then use to post your video streams on your website. Then all that is left for you to do is get some friends to test the connection from another location and start streaming.

Users can log in remotely from other computers or mobile devices with internet access. So you can update inventory levels from the warehouse or send an invoice while on road. Web access isn't limited to business products; with DesktopNow you can also set up easy access to your home PC computer so you can have access to all your files, plus desktop viewing and control, when you are away from home. So you don't have to worry about forgetting a file on a flash drive, if you don't have something you need you can simply log into your computer from wherever you are to upload or download files from your home machine. Peace of mind coming in the shape of a small software program.

Remote Desktop Viewing and Control

Remote Desktop Control SoftwareDesktopNow Remote Computer Access Software was first released back in December, giving you a free and easy way to access files on your home or work computer from remote locations. Recent upgrades have DesktopNow growing into its name, providing remote desktop access and control through a browser, as well as the simple file sharing provided in the first release.

Being able to access your desktop remotely essentially means you can control your computer when you aren’t there. Why might you want to do this? You can start, end, or restart programs that are running. Check a program’s status while you are away. Or maybe you act as your family’s computer support department—DesktopNow will allow you to access their computers without you physically being there. Imagine all the time you can save if you can move Grandma’s mouse to the recycle bin without having to describe how to find it over the phone.

Use the web controls to access your desktop no matter where you are, whether you are on another computer or a mobile device. Log into your computer over the Internet using any web browser for fast, easy, and secure access to all your important files. You never need to worry about not having a file you need with you again.

Video Surveillance at Home

We all know that there are some obvious benefits to using video surveillance within your home. It allows you to watch for intruders when you are away, you can monitor when your children arrive home from school, or keep an eye on the new nanny, but the list doesn't end there. Here are some additional reasons to use Eyeline Video Surveillance Software that you might not have thought of.

Daytime Pet Monitor
Have you ever had a time that you've gotten home and wondered how in the world your dog could have managed to get something off of your counter? I have. I have very small dogs, yet if I was in a hurry in the morning and happened to leave the bagels on the counter somehow they would manage to pull them off and devour them while I was gone. With EyeLine, I can go back and see. Apparently Jack Russel Terriers can jump surprisingly high when they have a mind to.

With EyeLine it easy to find out just which pup is deciding to destroy the remote, whether they are relaxing on the furniture they shouldn't be on, and see what other trouble they might be getting into while you are away.

Is Your Pet Expecting?
This may seem a bit strange to the non-animal owner, but it can be very important to know exactly when your dog, cat, or horse go into labor. Horse breeders set up constant surveillance when waiting for their mothers to deliver, as complications can result in devastating results. A friend of mine is a dog breeder and it is important for her to have the ability to check in on her mothers on a regular basis. With Eyeline she can log in and check on her pets with the web access feature from her office.

New Baby Monitor
For those of you with children, video surveillance is quickly becoming the popular way to check on your new baby. You can check on your sleeping child without running the risk of waking them up. Simply fire up your computer.

Outdoor Surveillance
Obviously there are times that it is nice to know whether or not someone is outside your home. However I have some friends that have a different concern - wildlife. They need to know whether or not they have a large predator around their house as they recently purchased a puppy. While they would like to let the puppy into the dog run during the day they live where mountain lions may be a problem. They use Eyeline to make sure they do not have a visitor that may not be safe while they are away.

Video surveillance is a valuable asset, regardless of whether you use it at home or in a business setting. Now it is easy and affordable to use too, giving you the ability to use it for security or simple monitoring.

Lions and Tigers and Ports, OH MY!

How to overcome your fear of port forwarding
When I was tasked with creating a tutorial series for configuring server-based software applications, my throat did a big cartoon-gulp—especially when I started reviewing all the problems a user could face when setting up their software. Port forwarding not only sounded like something from a Star Trek episode, but something you needed an engineering genius like Scotty to figure out. But then, bit by bit, it started making sense, and now I’m confident that with a little help, it will make sense for all of you, too.

The most important thing to understand is that the problem isn’t necessarily the software you’re using. It’s probably your router, firewall, IP address, or some combination of these, and it is going to take some time to figure it all out. But if you’re set on streaming video of your attempt to jump your bike over three cars, two buses, a clown and a flock of geese, it’s worth the effort, right?

To help you make your computer accessible to the public Internet for all your gaming, VoIP, business data retrieval, and media streaming needs, we have put together a tutorial page geared at helping you not only make the correct connections, but to fill you in on why it all has to be so complicated in the first place. You can view the tutorial series at http://www.nch.com.au/kb/10046.html.

make your computer accessible over the internet

If you don't want to be left out of all the fun, check out some of our server-based software, and see what kind of solutions you'll find for your business or home. For instance, BroadCam streaming video server allows you to broadcast live or recorded video over your website, and BroadWave streaming audio server lets you stream audio podcasts and more. Or for business, you might be interested in accessing and updating your inventory information stored in Inventoria from multiple locations. Our new tutorial series will help you get these server-based features up and running.

And I promise, you won't need Scotty.
